AIDA: Annual Report 2024

Dear friend,

2024 has been a year of growth and maturity for AIDA.

Together with our strong multidisciplinary team, we have set important precedents to protect the right to a healthy environment in Latin America and the Caribbean.

And we did it hand-in-hand with social and community organizations across the continent.

The achievements of 2024, found in our Annual Report 2024, reflect one of our pillars as a regional organization: serving as a bridge between communities affected by environmental degradation and high-level decision-making spaces where they can obtain justice.

Thanks to our work, connected with the territories, this year we:

• Achieved a landmark ruling on environmental and human rights matters in favor of the people of La Oroya, Peru.
• Helped the Green Climate Fund cancel funding for a forestry project that violated the rights of indigenous and Afro-descendent communities in Nicaragua.
• Connected communities in the region with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, allowing them to testify about the impacts of the climate crisis on their lives and how this court can protect their rights.

This has all been possible thanks to your support.

With your help, we’ll continue to promote decisions that incorporate the voices of those who truly care for nature and live in balance with it.
