Campeche.- La puesta de sol en el Malecón de Campeche, adornado por cañones que defendieron a esta tierra del embate de piratas y que ahora son parte de su composición e historia, es un espectáculo que propios y extraños admiran de esta región.
La puesta del sol es el atractivo natural que se puede apreciar en el Malecón, y este astro le da su nombre a Campeche que viene del vocablo maya “Ah Kin Pech” que significa: lugar del señor Sol.
Es precisamente este muelle donde se aprecia la puesta del sol por estar en una posición privilegiada y en un ambiente de seguridad, de tranquilidad.
A lo largo de este muelle se encuentran también estatuas, monumentos, parques, instalaciones deportivas y restaurantes que hacen del lugar una variedad de oportunidades para disfrutar en compañía de la familia o amistades.
Considerado propicio para el descanso y la convivencia, el Malecón de Campeche, ciudad capital del estado del mismo nombre, situada en la península de Yucatán y colindante con Quintana Roo y Yucatán, es un sitio que atrae a visitantes de todas partes del mundo.
Para el doctor en Historia por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), José Manuel Alcocer Bernés, el malecón es una parte importante de la identidad de los habitantes de este puerto.
“Esta estructura forma parte de nuestras vivencias, de historias, de pasajes personales e históricos”, dijo.
El especialista, quien obtuviera mención honorífica en la Licenciatura de Historia en la UNAM y siguiera preparándose académicamente hasta el grado de doctorado, es actualmente el cronista de la ciudad de Campeche.
Aseguró que el mar, las murallas y los piratas son parte de la vida de los habitantes de este puerto.
El malecón, dijo, es un espacio cotidiano de Campeche que se suma al espacio natural del mar y el entorno amurallado y la historia de piratas, cuyos cañones siguen al pie de las murallas.
“Los piratas siguen viviendo entre nosotros, tenemos un equipo de beisbol que así se llama, bares, restaurantes con nombres de piratas y algunas frases y lenguaje que se quedó como su legado, lo mismo que un contexto histórico y la defensa que se hizo en la villa”, aseveró.
El modelo arquitectónico del malecón es de especial estilo y tiene una longitud de 3.5 kilómetros, que abarca desde el monumento a Justo Sierra Méndez hasta la Avenida Joaquín Musel.
Esta obra monumental fue inaugurada el 10 de agosto de 2000, por lo que está a punto de cumplir 15 años de existencia y es uno de los más grandes y visitados en la República mexicana.
El piso de adoquín le da un toque colonial, que al combinarse con la modernidad de su vía principal y sus carriles para corredores, ciclistas y familias que pasean por este lugar, lo hacen el sitio perfecto para desestresarse de la rutina diaria.
Frente al Malecón la vista del mar es adornada con el vaivén de las olas que sin romper dan a este puerto un atractivo único, más aún si se toma en cuenta que la vida en una ciudad como Campeche es económicamente activa.
En el mar también se desarrolla la pesca, por lo que los pescadores salen muy temprano en busca de productos para vender y regresan a mediodía para exhibir lo que sacaron de su jornada diaria.
Al otro costado del malecón la circulación es en dos sentidos, dividida por un camellón central y varias glorietas que están colocadas estratégicamente a lo largo de los 3.5 kilómetros.
En el lugar se observan además dos carriles de baja velocidad para que propios y visitantes puedan correr, caminar, andar en bicicleta o patineta con toda la seguridad.
A la entrada a Campeche, los turistas son recibidos con la vista del primer tramo de este muelle, donde hay una serie de restaurantes que ofrecen platillos con productos marinos, ceviches de camarón, pulpo y caracol, cocteles, pescados empanizados o al ajo, pan de cazón, pescado frito, entre otras delicias de la gastronomía local.
El Malecón también cuenta con miradores, que se han convertido en puntos de reunión de familias que por generaciones han disfrutado, así como de áreas de esparcimiento y actividades que van desde clases de zumba, competencias, talleres y jornadas para niños, entre otras.
El atardecer, una vez que el sol se va a ocultar, representa un llamado para los campechanos y visitantes para disfrutar de la brisa marina y del atardecer, e incluso para hacer ejercicio cuando ha disminuido el calor.
La tranquilidad, la hospitalidad y la seguridad que se experimenta en esta área de Campeche como en el resto de sus calles, avenidas, plazas y Centro Histórico, hace del lugar un sitio emblemático del estado.
Entre los visitantes frecuentes destaca la presencia de adultos mayores con sus nietos, familias enteras caminando, madres jóvenes con sus hijos en carriolas, mujeres y hombres con mascotas, así como adolescentes con patinetas y personas de todas las edades en bicicletas.
Los cañones, que en una época fueron los guardianes de Campeche, la ciudad amurallada, ante los embates que por muchos años cometieron los piratas por ser el centro de acopio de riquezas, ahora son un vestigio con valor de un sitio con historia y con recuerdos de esas batallas entre habitantes del puerto y los forajidos que llegaban a atacar en barcos.
Una de las estatuas que llama la atención es “La Novia del Mar”, representa a una mujer sentada en lo alto de un cúmulo de piedras con las manos en la cara, que ve el mar.
Sobre esa figura existe una leyenda que cuenta que ella, una linda campechana, se enamoró de un pirata, quien tras conquistarla se fue en uno de los tantos barcos que arribaban al puerto.
No obstante, la joven mujer se postró a esperarlo cerca del mar, pero él jamás regresó, por eso se edificó esta estatua que es ahora uno de los puntos de atención y que para algunos pobladores tiene un dejo de nostalgia.
En el muelle se observan lanchas de varios tamaños, que tienen grabado el nombre de sus dueños, pescadores que de madrugada se aventuran en busca de pescados y mariscos para vender.
