New release: Guide to river plastic capture technologies by Benioff Ocean Initiative

Dear colleagues,

I’m writing to share the news that the Benioff Ocean Initiative has released our newest white paper, Plastic waste capture in rivers: An inventory of current technologies.

This paper is the result of over a year of research about river plastic waste capture technologies around the world, as well as hands-on experience with the Clean Currents Coalition. It is intended to serve as a guide to practitioners seeking to identify the best-fit capture technology to suit their unique river site, resources, and goals. As we write in the paper, we believe that cleanup is one important piece of the larger puzzle of solutions needed to mitigate plastic pollution in rivers and the ocean — which includes source reduction, viable alternatives, improved waste management and recycling, and behavior change.

I invite you to visit the website of the Benioff Ocean Initiative’s project, the Clean Currents Coalition, to learn more about the technologies that Coalition members are piloting in polluted rivers around the world.

Thank you, and I wish you all the best for all you do in this global effort to rid our world’s waterways of plastic waste.

Best,
